Volunteer
There are lots of ways to get involved…
We’re open 250 days a year, and our daily operations wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of over 60 amazing volunteers. By joining our team, your gift of time can make a real difference to a small charity like ours. Whether you’re passionate about history or simply looking to try something new, we offer a variety of opportunities to get involved with.
We’re always happy to hear from potential volunteers and provide all the training you’ll need to start your journey with us. Vacancies may vary depending on the time of year and the team we have in place, so take a look at the roles available, hear from our current volunteers, and get in touch below.
Opportunities

Take visitors on a journey as you tell the tales of Stowe’s dramatic rise and fall through history.

Help us tell visitors about the intriguing history of Stowe in our State Rooms during the school holidays and accompany tour guides on their tours to support larger groups.

Help serve our barista-style coffees and hot drinks. Ideally, you’ll be available at weekends when we’re at our busiest.

With a friendly smile, you’ll engage and chat with customers as you welcome them on arrival. Help them make informed choices and encourage garden visitors to take a tour.

Support our team behind the scenes by helping to promote our visitor attraction to the wider world. Ideally offering 5 hours a week to begin, you’ll be confident on a computer and a regular user of social media.

Get involved in our creative activities and help bring Stowe to life for families. You’ll assist with school visits to help inspire the next generation of history enthusiasts.

Social Events
Volunteering is a great way to meet new people and make new friends. Throughout the year, our social events enable our team to get together and mark their achievements. We host quarterly coffee mornings, arrange trips to visit historic properties, have summer celebrations and of course, a Christmas party! These are just a few of the many activities you can choose to attend.

Employee Volunteering
Did you know, some employees include paid volunteering days for you to help organisations like ours? Check your benefits package or speak with your employer about supporting our charity.
