Family Visits
Open their eyes to Georgian England
It’s time to roar like a lion, chat with a portrait and try on some Georgian wigs. We love seeing the magical expressions on children’s faces as they enter the awe-inspiring rooms, taking in every inch of the decoration. In the Marble Saloon, we even recommend lying down or looking through a telescope to see up high. Best of all – kids go free all year round at Stowe House with a paying adult.
Plan for the Easter Holidays

Did Somebody Say Free?
Make a day for adventure in your school holiday itinerary, explore the palace at your own pace, hide behind columns and play peek-a-boo. For little ones, follow our easygoing Easter animal trail to spot the missing letters and win a prize.
What’s on
For older children, get the family together to solve our escape-roomesque puzzle – the Lost Treasures of Stowe. Embark on a journey through history as you explore Stowe House and uncover its hidden secrets. Crack codes, decipher clues, and piece together the puzzle of centuries past alongside your little detectives. With teamwork and collaboration, you’ll unlock the lost treasures of Stowe and earn a prize to commemorate your detective team skills. With the wisdom and experience of adults guiding the way, every twist and turn of the trail becomes an opportunity for learning and discovery for the whole family.
Both activities will run daily from 5–21 April, 10.30am–4.30pm.

Things to See and Do
The museum is full of hands-on interactive exhibits, where you can be reassured kids can play and explore whilst you remain stress-free. Take a tour of the state rooms with your children and you’ll be surprised at the inquisitive questions they come up with. Our guides love chatting with younger visitors and sharing fun facts to inspire their love of history.

Essential Facilities
We know that keeping the little ones happy is key to a great day out. That’s why Stowe House offers a range of facilities to make your visit stress-free: baby-changing, toilets, a lift for your buggy, seating for breastfeeding and a café for snacks and refreshments.
During the school holidays, there’s a variety of trails, crafts, and activities to choose from before heading outdoors onto the picnic lawn to complete the soft play puzzles and run off some steam. Most importantly, ice cream is the motivation and reward for walking to the House!

Pre-book and Make Life Simple
We understand that with little ones, a walk through the National Trust Garden to the house can be daunting (whilst full of snacks, pitstops and bribery!). To make things a little easier, pre-book your admission tickets and you can arrange parking which is close to the house via a separate entrance to Stowe. Ta-da, happy faces all round.
Alternatively, enjoy the fresh air and let the kids run off some steam with a big day out at Stowe. (National Trust Stowe admission applies).
