Group Visits
See one of Britain’s most significant eighteenth-century country houses
As a working school, pre-booking your group visit is essential. We welcome groups all year round and offer discounted ticket rates for groups of 15 or more people. We work closely with our partners National Trust Stowe Gardens to enable combined visits for groups to see the entirety of the estate as it was in the eighteenth century.
If you’re looking for an exclusive tour for a small group of less than 15, we’ll provide a price upon application.
Read through our suggested itinerary and options below before filling in an enquiry form. Our team will be in touch to support your booking and plan a seamless visit.
Choose your tour

Not Standard by Any Means
Our standard group booking package includes time to explore the museum and take a full-length tour of the house which lasts approximately 1.5 hours. If you’ve got a limited length of time, allot 30 minutes for the short tour and Museum.
Cost: £7.50 per person.
For groups larger than 25, we will provide multiple tour guides to ensure all your guests have a great day out.

House Custodian Tour
For groups with an academic or heritage interest, we offer exclusive tours led by our knowledgeable House Custodians. With over 20 years of expertise in the history and restoration of Stowe House, they’ll provide fascinating insights and be on hand to answer all your questions.
Cost: £50 per staff member, plus a tour price of £14 per person. Similar rates apply for expert tours led by our staff. (Capacity: 25 people per staff member)
Additional tour options, including rooftop access and behind-the-scenes experiences, are available upon request.

Behind-The-Scenes Tours
You’re looking for a unique experience after many stately home tours? We recommend our exclusive Secrets of Stowe Tour, go beyond the red ropes and see spaces not normally open to the public including the intricate Gothic Library by Sir John Soanne and delicately themed Japan Room.
For small groups we can also offer a Rooftop Tour. Climb our cantilever stairs to enjoy views across the famous landscape and experience Stowe from new heights.
Price upon application and subject to limited school holidays.

Combined House and Gardens Visits
We know that you want to make the most out of your day and that sometimes you don’t have much time to spend with us.
The Stowe estate is large, we suggest you start or end your visit to Stowe with the house. This allows your coach to drop your group right outside our front door. Enjoy a tour of the house before hopping back aboard to head to the National Trust visitor centre – the New Inn. This is the perfect place to pause, and have lunch before heading out to explore the gardens.
Alternatively, your group can enjoy the morning in the gardens, and grab a spot of lunch at the café in New Inn before boarding your coach to travel to the house.
This allows you to enjoy the highlights of the Stowe estate and make the most of your time while avoiding too much walking.
Extras

Having a plan in place always helps a group visit run smoothly. Once our team have received your enquiry form, we can arrange a familiarisation visit so you can see exactly how your day’s itinerary will work.
See the two entrances to the estate and discuss any accessibility requirements your group may have.

Make your day to Stowe memorable with refreshments served in one of the State Rooms on arrival or departure. It’s an ideal time for your group to socialise and take in their surroundings.
We offer hot drinks and biscuits for as little as £3.50 or upgrade to a selection of cakes for £5 per person. Additional catering options are available – please get in touch with your request using the enquiry form along with any dietary requirements.

If you’re a member of a local group looking for a speaker, we can arrange for one of our tour guides to come to you with a tailored talk of your area of interest. We kindly request the speaker’s travel expenses to be paid for and a donation to our charity to help support our ongoing work.
Please enquire using the form below. (Your venue must be within an hour’s drive of Stowe House).
